05/10/2024 - Clara's paper on Spatial multi-omics in whole skeletal muscle in out in Communication Biology!! Super proud of Clara!!
30/09/2024 - Dana Amer, it has been a joy to have you working with us on lncRNA specificity in germ layer commitment during your master internship. We wish you all the best in your future, both with your growing family and your career!
16/10/2023 - Welcome to the lab, Myrthe Berndsen! Let's see how far we can push our lineage tracing strategies with your contribution and ideas :D
01/07/2023 - Atoosa Amel joins the team to perform her PhD and learn to tune cell fate commitment decisions in in vitro models. Let the cloning start :)
01/07/2023 - Some lab changes: Sandra and Federico finished their Erasmus stay in the lab. Sad to see them leave, but excited to see what the future holds for them!
16/03/2023 - Xuan Quy Nguyen joins the team as a research assistant focused on data analysis. scRNAseq, WGS, ATACseq... any seq!
01/03/2023 - We are happy to welcome to Erasmus students, Sandra Sabat and Federico Colombo, who will be working on the establishment of lineage barcoding tools in different cellular models.
02/01/2023 - Two big changes in the lab to start 2023: First, Olga Veth is leaving us with a bunch of scripts and a lot to think about regarding regulatory sequences; Second, Miha Sovrovic is joining our team to research assistant. Welcome, Miha! and good luck, Olga!
20/12/2022 - The SCaR lab joined the Christmas Dinner of the department, and used the ocasion to introduce a tiny new lab member... :)
18/07/2022 - After spending some months in the waiting list, the lab got awarded an ERC-Starting Grant. You can read more about it here. We are excited with all the possibilities that this opens!
01/07/2022 - Very proud of Karel van Leeuwen, a Master Student in Biomedical Sciences, who graduated from his master after pioneering the use of Base Editors in the lab. We are sad to see you go, but wish you all the best for your future career and hope to stay in touch!
07/07/2022 - Happy to announce that the lab got a new publication, in which we contributed establishing VASAseq, a novel scRNA-seq technology that allows us to recover not only protein coding transcripts, but also non-polyadenylated biotypes with single cell resolution.
15/05/2022 - And the lab grows: Vikas Chaudary, a biochemist from the Central University of Rajasthan, is joining as a PhD candidate and will investigate the gene-regulatory networks that mediate fate commitment in bipotent progenitors.
22/03/2022 - Super happy to announce that our very own Noëlle has been awarded with the Benoît Ponchon Prize 2021, that recognizes her outstanding PhD thesis about "unraveling proliferation by mapping origins of replication and the function of Ajuba". Congrats Noëlle!
15/03/2022 - Very proud of Dante Spekken, the first Master Student of the lab, who magnificently developed a computational framework to investigate cell proliferation during lineage establishment. Great work, Dante :) the lab wishes you all the best for your future career.
07/02/2022 - Karel van Leeuwen, a Master Student in Biomedical Sciences, joins our group for 6 months. Will we be able to establish a novel mouse embryonic cell line to perform genetic lineage tracing?
01/02/2022 - Olga Veth joins our group as a Bioinformatic technician, and she will be establish novel pipelines to investigate the role of perturbed promoters in gene expression using bioinformatic tools. Looking forward to all the new findings!
14/01/2022 - The first publication of the lab is out! Check MGcount, a total RNA-seq quantification tool to address multi-mapping and multi-overlapping alignments. Follow our user guider to learn more about it here!
11/10/2021 - Dante Spekken, a Master Student in Systems Biology from the VU (Amsterdam), joins us for 5 months. Can we build a simulation framework to start learning about cell dynamics in a dish?
01/08/2021 - Twan and Noëlle start as PhD and postdoc in the SCaR lab :) Welcome to the lab and looking forward to all the new projects!
15/07/2021 - We got the VIDI grant!!
Twan successfully defended his master internship, impressive analysis to detect eQTL in scRNA-seq data! Remarkably, this was the first full computational project lead by Twan. This allowed him to learn coding and familiarize himself with a unix environment. He did phenomenal!
01/12/2020 - The lab starts! Sure, in the middle of covid19... but we will use the lock-down to refine ideas and gather some strength for what's about to come.
